I like drumstick a lot.I used to make only sambar with it ,which taste exceptional.It gives a nice flavor to the dish.I prepared drumstick gravy , my mom used to prepare when i was small,after a very long time i prepared it and everyone in my house liked it.I have not added tomato , u can add if you like it.Tastes great with hot rice, curd rice or rasam.The drumstick should be split into two ,to that the masala gets into the vegetables too.
Ingredients
- Drumstick - 2 cups , cut into small , split
- Salt as needed
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 10nos
- Onion - 1 ,chopped finely
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Water - 1 1/2 cups
TO Grind :
- Small onion - 8nos
- Pepper - 1/4 tsp
- Saunf- 2 pinch
- Jeera - 3 pinch.
- Grated coconut - 2 tbsp
- Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
- Corriader Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Method
- In a pan heat oil , add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the finely chopped onion and cook it till it turns translucent.
- Add the curry leaves ,saute it ,add the ground paste ,salt and mix it well
- Let it cook for another 3 min.
- Now add the drumstick and give it a stir,add water and let it cook closed for 10min.
- Open the lid and check whether it is cooked (if not cooked close and cook again , add hot water if necessary), if cooked open the lid and simmer for another 5min.
- Serve with hot rice or roti.
