Cauliflower Manchurian - Gravy


We all love Chinese food.We try to recreate to suit our taste buds.This is my version of Cauliflower Manchurian i like to have with fried rice or with roti (wierd )this is my family's favorite and hit among my friends.
         .I have used rice vinegar , i haven't used vinegar before , i started using rice vinegar and started liking the taste ,so the tradition continues.Do try it , i am sure you would like to do .

BitterGourd / Pavakkai Sukka

This is not any non-veg .It is bitter gourd fried .I like bitter gourd very much ,i keep on trying different varieties in it.This taste great with rasam and curd rice.Adding rice flour gives crispness to the vegetable.Marinating in salt removes the bitterness of the vegetable.My son started to eat bitter gourd after frying like this , even though it is still bitter.Try this recipe and do post your comments.

DrumStick Curry

 I like drumstick a lot.I used to make only sambar with it ,which taste exceptional.It gives a nice flavor to the dish.I prepared drumstick gravy , my mom used to prepare when i was small,after a very long time i prepared it and everyone in my house liked it.I have not added tomato , u can add if you like it.Tastes great with hot rice, curd rice or rasam.The drumstick should be split into two ,to that the masala gets into the vegetables too.

Onion utthappam


Onion utthappam is one of my favourite i would say.i like dosa in any form.I have tasted onion uttappam in Saravana Bhavan, attempted to make similar one at home , it was success but after trying many trial and error.This onion forms  nice crispy crust.I taste great with coconut chuntey and sambar excellent combination.The onions should be chopped very finely,adding idli podi makes it very tasty .I like big onions you can try with small onions too.

Mini Ghevar with Rabdi


        This is my first post in the SNC challenge event conducted by Divya of Youtoocancookindianfood.    When i saw January month SNC challenged   by Manjula of Northern Team for January was Ghevar with Kesar Rabdi, i was very sure i wouldnt do it .It was too tricky and more calories,so i thought i might skip.Manjula  has given a commendable job in giving detailed description and pictorial in her  blog DieFiesta.
      Ghevar  , it was an impossible mission for me,i was too scared to try it.I was inspired when the fellow bloggers actively participated in the event, i thought let me try too, wow , i am happy i tried .This is such a amazing dessert that you should have definitely once.
    I liked the ghevar on its own, it was so crunchy and melted in the mouth.I made the rabdi it just tasted heaven no words to say .I didnt try it with sugar syrup as it is too sweet for us.Do try it guys , you will definitely like it  you can reduce the sugar if you want.

I am soup lover, i like to try all different soups.When i saw in Raks Kitchen ,i was so tempted to try.I made this for breakfast today morning.I like her blog very much for her  step to step   detailed explanation and superb photographs .Kids dont like the addition of the green chilly so you can skip it ,i like the twist of green chilly so i added it.It was really tasty and yummy  soup.

Granny Smith Apple is green in color and it is quite tart like raw mango , i had just one apple left .So i tried this .You too can try in any tart apple.You will really like it .

Egg Tamarind Gravy



Usually egg gravy is prepared with onion and tomato.This is slightly different gravy we are adding tamrind ,it was new to me when i tried initially.I liked the taste and started preparing it quite often.We are  adding raweggs in the gravy.The best accompaniment are hot rice and pappad. Can be had with dosa as well.
You can add coconut while roasting for the ground paste.I have not added it.Try this different gravy , you will certainly like it .

Kalkandu Pongal

 
                               I made Sakkarai pongal in pressure cooker.I wanted to try this version of cooking in the pot and moreover i wanted to try  kalkandu pongal ,so made very little .I liked the taste ,it was yummy.If you want it to be more sweet you can add another half cup of quarter cup more.It is quite easy to prepare this pongal ,if you cook in medium flame you can do other kitchen works too.Do try this you will definitely like it .

Tomato Soup

After a long stretch of the work , you want a simple yet fulfilling meal.I like soup as a dinner with some toasted breads.It is quite easy and simple soup.I have added vegetables which i have in hand , you can substitute any vegetables of your choice.To thicken the soup i have added maida flour.Do try this soup you would love it.Dip some bread and have it.Kids will love it.

Instant Rava Dosai




 
        Rava dosai is mostly prepared when the batter is less and you want to make dinner .Soaking rava is one method,usually done.Try roasting the rava and adding it .The dosai taste great and you dont feel the rava is added.You need more oil for a crispy and tasty one.If you are health conscious you can add little oil in the corners for taking the dosai easily.It is bit time consuming but tastes great as Restaurant dosa.

Avial - Mixed Vegetable Stew



This simple yet delicious ,healthy and nutritious recipe.It does not have any oil except for coconut oil which is added for flavor. I do this whenever i get plantain ,i feel the plantain adds more flavor and taste to this dish.This is prepared in most homes when there is any special function or festival .This is one of the dish that will be prepared during Pongal.
