On a lazy day i would like a quick but nutritious one .I added whatever vegetables i have in hand.It does not include any grinding ,roasting .It is very simple and quick meal.It taste yummy and nutritious.
Ingredients
- Rice - 1 cup
- Toor dhall - 1/2 + 2 tbsp
- Yellow split moong dhall - 2 tbsp
- Carrot - 2,chopped
- Peas - handfull
- Potato - 1 ,Medium size ,Chopped
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
- Corriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Hing - 1/4 tsp
- Tomato -1 ,chopped.
- Tamarid - small gooseberry size,extract the juice.
- Jeera - 1/4 tsp
- Pepper - 1/4 tsp
- Small onion - 5nos
- Curryleaves - 5nos
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Salt as needed
Method :
- Soak the rice and dhall for 10 min
- Heat a pressure cooker , add the oil , add the curry leaves and small onion ,saute it for 3 seconds
- Add the chopped vegetables,and stir well leave it for 2 minutes
- Add all the powder,hing and salt.Give it a stir
- Now add the tomato and give it a stir ,leave it for 2 min.
- Add the washed rice, give it a stir that the vegetables get mixed well.
- Measure the tamarid juice and totally add 4 cups of water with tamarid juice.
- Pressure cook it for 3 whistles , leave it in simmer flame for 5 min .
- Then switch it off,when the pressure reduces,open and serve.
- The best accompaniment are pickle , pappad and onion raita.
Tips
- Try to add small onions only.
- If gingelly oil is used it enhances the taste more.
- You can add cooked butter beans.
